Launched this week at the AdobeMAX conference, designers can directly access and automatically activate fonts in the industry’s most popular design applications, including Adobe Photoshop®, Adobe InDesign®, Adobe Illustrator®, Adobe InCopy®, Adobe After Effects®, in addition to QuarkXPress® 2017.I have the same problem. The host is OS X 10.7.3 on a MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo with 8 GB RAM. Everything was running fine with Fusion 4.1.1 and all previous versions. I upgraded Fusion to 4.1.2 and the VM continued to work but I expected to need to update VMware Tools. Eventually the notification popped up to tell me to update VMware Tools. I performed the update but it didn't complete. I looked around in the forums and the first thing I tried was to go into Control Panel and use add/remove programs to remove VMware Tools. After that I tried installing VMware Tools, and got the same problem (it gets stuck at "installing thin print drivers" and never completes, it's been sitting overnight). After that I found another post that said use Revo Uninstaller to get rid of VMware Tools, and Revo couldn't find any VMware Tools. Finally I found another post that said to remove some registry entries. The listed entries were not present on my system except for the last one, which was in a folder called VMware Tools. I deleted that VMware Tools registry folder, and tried installing VMware tools, and again I have the same problem. I also tried the Microsoft Fixit and have the same problem. How do I get my VMware working properly again?! I now think that upgrading to 4.1.2 was a mistake. Okay those instructions allowed me to successfully install VMware Tools into Fusion 4.1.2 BUT it took me several tries. I did the Virtual Machine -> Install VMware Tools, and right clicked on the virtual CD, but from there the VM just hung at the hourglass. #Upgrade suitcase fusion 2 to 4 installĪfter trying several times the trick was: When you click on the menu to Install VMware Tools, wait for a dialog that has a Next (I forget the exact word) and Cancel button. THEN right click on the virtual CD and drag the Setup program to the desktop - not before. Then, once you have that Setup program on the desktop, you won't be able to get out of the Tools installation so you'll have to reboot the VM. When the VM restarts, you'll now have the Setup program on the desktop, and you can run it from the desktop.īecause my VM was running very slowly, it took me several hours to get to this stage, from the stage I was at two messages above. This sort of setback for something that should be routine (installing Tools is routine) is kind of sad. I have been a VMware customer for 10-15 years, starting with VMware Workstation for Linux. I have always been of the impression that VMware is more bug free than a lot of other software, until the upgrade to 4.1.2. I left the VM in a hung state for a couple days as I had other stuff to do. #Upgrade suitcase fusion 2 to 4 install.#Upgrade suitcase fusion 2 to 4 full version.#Upgrade suitcase fusion 2 to 4 for mac.You should be able to tuck that into a small project and still come out ahead, even if you're a freelancer. I haven't bothered seeing if I can update my auto-activation plug-ins without updating but here's why if you use software like this for professional purposes then a yearly upgrade at ~$30-40 isn't bad at all. Sure, it looks a little dated (it was supposed to be the iTunes of fonts) but I don't spend very much time activating/de-activating fonts to care that much. It integrates with Typekit, SkyFonts, and give me the ability to manage fonts how I choose. When FontExplorerX came out I jumped right in and have been happy ever since. There were so many issued with fonts getting corrupted, not activating, or any number of other issues. That being said, I used Suitcase Fusion for a long time, long before FontExplorerX was even available and I hated it. If you only need a handful of fonts for digital work then Apple's Font Book is probably just fine. I have lots of fonts as O do both digital and print design so my opinion is skewed a little.
